Fancy adventure: Barrington Tops {part one}

During the Christmas/NewYear holidays, Mat and I took another small trip to Barrington Tops. It is about four and a half hour drive from Sydney and easily one of my most favourite weekend getaway spots ever. 

For this trip, I cleaned up my dusty analogue Minolta and took it out for a spin. I wasn't sure whether it can still take good pictures but was really surprised when the photos came back better than I imagained. Other than a few fuzzy night shots, everything was perfect. I love looking through the analogue viewfinder, it is so different to a digital and to me so much more easier to use when composing a picture. The images has such warmth and depth to them which I believe is very difficult to capture with digital. It is not a cheap hobby, but will definitely experiment more with film photography in the future.

Road trip - Barrington Tops

We took a road trip to Barrington Tops for my 31st birthday celebration. For anyone who have never been, I would say pack your bags now! It was the most magical place I have ever been, we were greeted by friendly animals everywhere we go. We had possums, bush turkeys, bower bird and parrots knocking on our window each morning, visitations by the too curious neighbourhood pony, horses and rock wallabies. We even made a life long friend with one of the wallabies and her baby as evident above. Be ready for my image heavy post :)

We are already planning on our next return trip. Can't wait to see my animal friends again.

My Melbourne adventure - part 2

What do you think of my drawing? I kind of like it, I think it definitely has more character than my first attempt. I think I still have a long way to go in terms of techniques, but overall I am pretty happy with the end result. 

While we were in Melbourne, we spent a couple of days road tripping around Daylesford and surrounds. 

If you have never been to Daylesford, you should definitely give it a visit. It is absolutely adorable, it is full of little crafty shops and the friendliest peeps I've seen in a long time.

Kilda the friendly dog gave us a visit in the morning. She was huge, but oh so gentle.

I received this bunny hair clip as a gift with purchase at this adorable little shop named Blackbird Corner in Newcastle. The clip is so adorable that it puts a smile on my face every time I put it on. Although it is only something cheap and disposable, it has a lot of emotional attachment for me because it acts as a reminder to one of the best weekends I've had this year. It was one of the hottest weekends ever and we were stuck in traffic for over 2 hours while getting there, normally this would dampen anyone's spirit, but we were having so much fun in the car that nothing else seems to matter. By the time we got to our hotel, we spent the rest of the afternoon splashing in the pool and exploring the lazy town. The day ended with an intimate gig with the oh so lovely Cat Power. Oh... how I miss Newcastle.
