Sewing fancy: Colette meringue skirt


My  Colette Sewing Handbook  arrived the other day and I thought I'll try making my own meringue skirt. The scallop edge is a lot easier than I thought, the only problem I encountered was accidentally cutting off some of the stitchings while grading the hem seams. I'll try not to be so clumsy next time. The fit was perfect, I didn't have to alter it in anyway, can definitely se myself sewing a couple more in the near future.

      Tell me about it, I don't know which one to make next time, I'm tempted to do another meringue skirt, but really I should try out the other lovelies. x

    Great skirt, and fabulous colour!! Have been tempted to get the collette sewing handbook - sounds like you would recommend?

      Get it Lexi, I was really impressed, not only does it have great patterns (I love them all, except for one), it also go through all the sewing basics in a really easy to follow manner. It's great for any beginner or anyone who wants to brush up on their skills.

    Your skirt is lovely, I am making it at the moment but not having much luck with the scallops. I hope mine turns out half as good as yours.

    ahhh this is just so adorable! Would love to try and scallop a few of my skirts. Was it difficult? You should post a mini tutorial

      Thanks Tania, it wasn't difficult at all, just need to be careful and not rush it. A mini tutorial is a great idea, I'll try and do one next time I make another one. x
